Meet Diana : The thoughts behind reINVENTING the wheel

I am a cosmopolitan villager, a lifelong learner, a strategic thinker, avid for knowledge, expecting the unexpected and striving to leave the world better than I found it.

Born and educated in Europe, I had the great fortune to work on two continents, under the guidance of amazing mentors who have educated my personal views on the world, and shaped my professional ethics. I believe that anything worth doing, is worth doing right, and that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.

I have been an educator for 15 years, and my greatest passion is to build innovative educational programs that support student wholesome learning. I started a charter school in Atlanta, a magnet school and the first 1-1 media immersion in Texas in Galveston, I helped build the Houston 1-1, the digital learning environment, and created Houston's fully integrated eAssessment program. I advocate for my stakeholders' needs and publicize their successes. I am an avid learner and presenter at various conferences, such as ISTE, FETC, TCEA, MSA, ASCD, CoSN, AACE, TATN, TCCA.

I enjoy working with interactive media, a strand of technology that has evolved tremendously in the past years. I am an online learning designer using the variety of mediums available, many of which are just being invented. Media is our current way of life and dictates all our interactions: how we get our information, how we learn, how we teach, and how we understand the reach of our actions through more analytics than we ever had. I believe in collaborative peer learning so I share, train, present., and participate in research to improve he ways we can promote great learning. I advocate. I create. I design. I plan. I write.

I am currently dabbling in 3D holographic design, a new strand of technology that promises to yield amazing use in Education, Science, and the Arts. Paired with the 3 and 4D printing that is taking the educational world by storm, 3D holography is the future of applied learning, project design and enables kinesthetic learners to connect with abstract concepts.

I advocate for STEM and Digital Storytelling (DS) in all subjects; they offers much needed literacy, build thinking skills, and provide innovative collaborative options to the education environment. DS develops communication strategies in students and builds critical thinking and organizational skills. I consider ebooks to be an intrinsic tool in the teachers' toolbox. iBooks/eBooks creators help teachers build authentic, interactive content for their LMS. The possibility to embed interactive media in our ibooks allows us to create our own digital content and collect data that can help each one of our students.

I am a privacy advocate and guardian. Check out my privacy site in the navigation menu. I work with privacy champions like Mozilla, CommonSenseMedia, iKeepSafe, Future of Privacy Forum, etc, to create awareness, teach about digital realities, and help users become comfortable online.
